Professional Summary

Mr. Thuneman has an extensive background in the industrial safety sector including construction, oil, gas, and chemical, mining, life sciences, agriculture, industrial, and general industrial areas. For over 40 years he has served large and small corporations in various capacities including President of Your Safety Department^SM. He has worked in all facets of HSE including incident investigations, workers compensation, site compliance inspections, job hazard analysis, risk assessments, industrial hygiene assessments, process safety management, drug, and alcohol testing, policy, process and procedures development, behavior-based safety, root cause analysis, third-party contractor qualification management, record-keeping, safety training, and changing corporate safety cultures, beliefs, attitudes, values, and behaviors.

As President at Your Safety Department^SM, Mr. Thuneman is responsible for developing a safety solution services company providing on-site and online services including safety training, respirator fit testing, spirometry testing, outsourced safety, downloadable written safety programs, and safety staffing designed for seamless implementation into existing or developing safety management systems. In this capacity, he has had the opportunity to recommend, plan, and manage change within many client organizations.

Previously as a Corporate Safety Director, Mr. Thuneman led the organizational HSE function for SGS North America with a goal to reduce injury levels, occupational exposures, loss of plant, property, and material and, to establish safety as a cultural value in the organization across ten (10) business line in six (6) countries within North America with over 6,000 employees. He aligned the vision with core values, safety processes, and employee behaviors to reduce unsafe exposures, incidents, accidents, illnesses, and environmental releases. This reduced TRIR Rates and EMR ratings saving millions in cost and in related injuries. He also conducted internal incident investigations for the company and external catastrophic incident investigations for clients, developed and implemented safety management system processes and procedures, developed and conducted safety training to support divisional operations, and audited and inspected company sites to ensure compliance to transportation, storage, shipping and disposal of hazardous materials and waste regulations.
